Lush and Bright Wedding in the City
SEPTEMBER in Los Angeles, California

A + H's mandap – used in traditional Hindu ceremonies.

Hanging garlands of orange and pink flowers cascade elegantly, drawing the eye with their bold colors and traditional styling. The elephant depicted below is Lord Ganesha, an important deity in Hinduism, who is known as the remover of obstacles and the god of beginnings. Ganesha holds a small axe in one hand and a bowl of sweets in another, symbolizing rewards for wise and virtuous living. Surrounding the statue are vibrant offerings and elements used in Hindu worship: fresh flowers in bright pinks and oranges, fruits like oranges, and coconut, a traditional offering symbolizing purity and the ego that must be broken to reveal the sweetness within.

The Hindu Ceremony featured traditions such as the Jaimala, where the couple exchanged garlands to symbolize their union and mutual respect, and the Mangalsutra dharanam, where H fastened a necklace around A’s neck to symbolize their marriage.

A grand Bollywood dance was performed, and A and H spent months rehearsing it.
